Boat Cover Support Poles

By David Evermon

Boat Cover support poles Why does one need a boat cover support pole ?

Boats have come a long way along with us over the years. It is said that boats have been around as long as human civilization. Boats nowadays are being bought by many people. As the need for people to take a break from their hectic life increases, many are turning towards spending sometime in any water body, be it sea or a lake. So with this urge, the sales of boats are also on the rise.

People are getting more attracted towards water sports and water adventures. Such people tend to own a boat for themselves. But it does not stop at just buying a boat. Taking good care of your boat is very essential too. Good maintenance and care would enhance the life span of your boat and moreover will save you a lot of money from repairs. One of the most important boat accessories to maintain your boat is a boat cover.

We dont use out boat daily, which means most of the time it is idling either on a dock or in your garage. That leaves it exposed to the elements of nature which can cause your boat to weather and also wear out. Using boat covers protects your boat from the elements and thereby helps you in maintaining your boat. They are normally made up of a soft, flexible and strong fabric as they have to weather the elements.

The biggest enemy of boat covers I standing water. Standing water promotes dry rot and mildew. When we cover our boat with a boat cover there are many areas where water can stagnate. To overcome this situation there are boat cover support poles. Support poles not only support your boat covers, they can also ventilate your boat so as to prevent the build up of mildew on the inside. Boat Cover Support systems help water to drain off the surface of the boat covers easily using a drainage system and hence you can be rest assured that youll not find any standing water on your boat covers.

The most common type of boat cover support pole system is Bow type Boat Cover Support System. They are normally made using thin planks of wood or fiber glass. They are cut a few inches wider than the boat and then made to form a bow shape over the boat. You can install sockets needed to hold the boat cover support system onto your boat, or in some systems, they come with a clip on feature too. Some systems also have the option of adjusting the length of the planks.

Boat Cover support pole is a much simpler system. It just has a pole that is placed on the floor of the boat and raised to needed height. That helps to keep the cover taut. The support poles can be adjusted to any size ranging from 20 to 60 inches. They are made out of aluminum with a rubber base and a cushioned tip to hold the cover up without damaging it. A boat cover needs two to three support poles for complete support.

Boats dont come cheap. They are big investments. Use the right accessories to protect your investment from the elements of nature and keep your boat, and your boat covers as good as new.!

Hints On hunter sailboats

In a jetboat, the waterjet draws water from beneath the hull where it passes through a series of impellers and stators - known as stages - which increase the velocity of the waterflow. Most modern jets are single stage while older waterjets may have as many as three stages. The tail section of the waterjet unit extends out through the transom of the hull above the waterline. This jetstream exits the unit through a small nozzle at high velocity to push the boat forward. Steering is accomplished by moving this nozzle to either side, or less commonly, by small gates on either side that direct the jetstream. Because the jet boat relies on the flow of water through the nozzle for control, it is not possible to steer a conventional jet boat without the throttle open.

Before purchasing any jet ski, one should consider ones ability to store and to tow the jet ski. Generally a jet ski is best stored in an indoor environment, such as a shed or garage. One may need ample power or a towing package to tow the jet ski to lakes or the coast. A jet ski that cant be moved isnt going to provide a lot of fun.

Oceanswatch - Anyone Know Much About Them?, www.oceanswatch.org

Fri, 2 May 2008 15:25:52 +0200
The Oceanswatch web site was interesting to me, but I'm not familiar with many charitable organizations traveling on small private yachts, and so I wrote to Oceanswatch for a copy of their charter before I went any further. They really haven't been very forthcoming, it seems. On their web site, under "charter" they state: "Copies of our Trust documents are available on request by emailing chris@oceanswatch.org" I emailed Chris, and here are the emails sent and received as of today. It doesn't cost him anything to send copies of this stuff to me, does it? So now I'm asking what does he have to hide? Anybody here know?

Buying A New Or Used Boat: What Do You Really Wanted To Know

By Capablanca Fisher

When someone wanted to buy a boat, there is always the same question which pops in everyones head. Should they buy a new or a used boat?

If you wanted to buy a new boat. Here are some of the advantages of it. A new boat will come with a warranty. Therefore, it will save you the headache if something goes wrong with your boat and needed repairs.

Besides that, financing for a new boat will be much easier as you can usually get a better interest rate if you buy a new boat compared to a used boat.

However, a new boat will be much more expensive than a used boat and their value can quickly decreased within the first few years. A new boat also required furnishing such as boat accessories, electronics and all the other riggings which are usually found in a boat.

With a used boat, you can get it at a much cheaper price. So, this would be a good option if you are in a tight budget or just wanted a taste to see if boating suits you. You could also get some experience as a boat captain first in a used boat as you would not mind as much if you create some scratches on the boat as used boat usually comes with one or two.

Furthermore, a used boat also came with all the furnishing which the previous owners would have set up. This will reduce the need of spending much money for this purpose.

However, some used boats also come with slight mechanical fault or any other problems. Thus, hiring a boat surveyor is a must to ensure that the boat you are receiving have no defects in them.

Even though you might be thinking of skipping the part of hiring a boat surveyor, this is an unwise decision as it would be much cheaper to have marine survey than to have costly repairs afterward due to unseen problems during purchase of the boat.

Depending upon the results of the survey, you can stop the deal or use the results to get a lower price if there are problems that need to be attended to. Getting a marine survey is the smart decision if you are buying a used boat. It can save you money, time, and heartache, which will make the price of the survey well worth it.

As a conclusion, buying a new or used boat both has their pros and cons. Therefore it is up to you to decide which type of boat you wanted to buy after evaluating the options you have.

Tips On used ski boats for sale

Cruising yachts are by the far the most common yacht in private use, making up most of the 25' to 45' (7 m to 14 m) range. These vessels can be quite complex in design, as they need a balance between docile handling qualities, interior space, good light-wind performance and on-board comfort. The huge range of such craft, from dozens of builders worldwide, makes it hard to give a single illustrative description. However, most favour a teardrop-planform hull, with a wide, flat bottom and deep single-fin keel to give good stability. Most are single-masted Bermuda rigged sloops, with a single fore-sail of the jib or Genoa type and a single mainsail. Spinnaker sails,in various sizes, are often supplied for down-wind use. These types are often chosen as family vessels, especially those in the 30- to 40-foot (8 to 12 m) range. Such a vessel will usually have many cabins below deck. Typically there will be three double-berth cabins; a single large saloon with galley, seating and navigation equipment; and a "head" consisting of a toilet and shower-room.

Apart from the obvious hazards of collisions and mechanical breakdowns common to all vehicles, personal watercraft feature the unique hazard of orifice injuries. Such injuries are the logical result of the unusually close proximity of PWC riders to the output end of the pump jet, as well as the fact that personal watercraft are usually not enclosed. A rider who falls (or is ejected) off the back can land directly in the path of the PWC's high-pressure jet of water. Unless a rider is appropriately dressed in garments made out of a strong, thick substance like neoprene (as is commonly found in wetsuits), the jet will easily penetrate any orifice it reaches. The consequences include permanent disability or death. For example, in 2006, the California Court of Appeal (First District) upheld a $3.7 million Napa County jury verdict against Polaris Industries arising out of one such incident (which had devastating effects on the victim's lower abdomen).

Looking For Experienced Crew - Long Term Available

Tue, 27 May 2008 21:08:48 +0200
Hello everyone! I am at a crossroads in my life and am excited for the next adventure. My plan is to purchase a sailboat with the proceeds from the sale of my business and live/cruise/relax/explore for 6 months of the year- every year! (if anyone has any recommendations for what I should buy - I'm all ears - I'm looking to spend around $200kusd and like the idea of a multi hull) I have limited sailing experience but am certified in advanced navigation standard and off shore cruising standard by CYA. Because of my limited on water experience I am looking for an experienced person to be the "captain" of the boat and teach me along the way! Hopefully the candidate will be easy to get a long with and will be able to stay with the boat long term. (I will need someone to sail/maintain her when I'm not there for 6 months of the year!) The crew will only be expected to contribute an equal share of the cost of food and drinks. All boat costs (fuel, fees, marinas, etc.,) will be covered by me!. Each person is to cover their own travel expenses to/from the boat and their costs of personal visas, etc.
